June 13, 2018----- The first day of the Saving Lives Sustainably Asia Forum; attended by over 180 participants from 40 countries including Scotland, Malaysia, Nepal, United States, Philippines, Switzerland, Turkey and so much more.
The 3-Day Event & Workshop was opened by Titon Mitra the UNDP Philippine Country Director, Woochong Um ADB's Director General for Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, followed by WHO Representative to the Philippines, Dr. Gundo Weiler, Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines, Harald Fries, Health Care Without Harm Asia's Board Member and former Philippine Health Secretary Dr. Esperanza Cabral and Philippine Department of Health's Assistant Secretary for Sectoral Management and Coordination Cluster, Dr. Nestor Santiago, Jr.
This #AsiaForum2018 was organized by the the UNDP as the Host Agency to the UN Informal Interagency Task Force on Sustainable Procurement in the Healthcare Sector (SPHS) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in partnership with Health Care Without Harm (HCWH), UN Environment, UNFPA and UNICEF.
Delegates were treated to a series of breakout sessions on sustainable water and energy systems. Some of which focused on water usage in the health sector, wastewater treatments, energy efficiency, green technologies and renewable energy.
The first leg concluded with a conversation hour that consisted several topics like carbon footprinting, financing climate-smart healthcare and environmental management systems.
