India — In May 2010, India's Central Government issued guidelines to phase-out mercury containing equipment from all Government-run Hospitals.
Since then, many hospitals in the country have been implementing projects to eliminate mercury-based medical devices from their institutions. HCWH Partner Organization Toxics Link - an environmental organization engaged in disseminating information to help strengthen campaigns against toxic pollution and provide cleaner alternatives - has documented the effort of Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust, a 750 beds, multi specialty hospital in India.
