Senate Forum on Health, Energy, and Climate & Philippine Launch of the Paris Platform for Healthy Energy
The Senate Committee on Climate Change, chaired by Senator Loren Legarda, together with Health Care Without Harm-Asia and the British Embassy, will hold a forum entitled “The Necessary Alternatives: Balancing Energy, Health, and the Climate Challenge.” Various government agencies, as well as leaders from civil society and the health sector will review how the country can meet its energy commitments under its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – while protecting human health and the environment. The forum will be capped with the official launch of the Paris Platform for Healthy Energy in the Philippines.

Health Implications of Energy Choices and the Co-Benefits of Climate Change Mitigation
Paul Wilkinson, Professor of Environmental Epidemiology of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, will talk about the nexus of climate change, energy, and health and the role of the health sector in advocating for climate mitigation and healthy energy transformation. This lecture is organized by the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health of the University of the Philippines Manila-College of Public Health in partnership with the British Embassy Manila and Health Care Without Harm-Asia, and is held in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO).
